During her filmmaking days in Los Angeles Michaela von Schweinitz also sat on the board of directors of the Alliance of Women Directors AWD where she took charge of the monthly newsletter.
Joining the board of AWD Michaela von Schweinitz launched a new design for the AWD newsletter and was the editor of ten issues before she moved to New York to focus on her own writing.

NAACP Image Award Nominee and AWD Honorary Board member Millicent Shelton was nominated for Outstanding Directing in a Dramatic Series Empire – Episode: “Empire: The Lyon Who Cried Wolf (2016)”. She has been nominated ten times and has won the image award three times.
In Germany Michaela worked as editor in chief for several publications. Streitkultur (culture of debate) a magazine for politics and culture in Europe was published by the Verein für Politische Bildung VPI Bonn e.V. (Association for Political Education).
