The Blueprint for a Book can be used before you start writing your book or after you’ve written the first draft. It looks at the building blocks of your story and helps you find the answer to important questions that reveal the essence of your book.
Completing the Answer Sheet for your Blueprint usually takes between two to three weeks.
Whether you create your Blueprint before you begin writing or after your first draft, the Blueprint helps you find the deepest emotional story and a structure that will allow that story to reach the reader. Bring your great ideas and together we’ll dicover the best way to tell your story.
This groundwork includes:

Do I need to have a finished manuscript to work with you?
No. You can work with me at different stages of the writing process.
You might come to me with an idea and need help figuring out what book you are building. You might have a first draft that needs structure. Or you might have a completed manuscript and need an honest assessment of what is working and what needs attention.
The right starting point depends on where you are and what your book needs.
It also depends on the package you chose. An Assessment requires a completed manuscript, since it’s evaluating the whole. Blueprint can be used either before you’ve written a word or after a first draft. Comfort is built for writers actively drafting or revising, so a finished draft isn’t required going in.
What kinds of books do you coach?
I work with memoir, fiction, and nonfiction, including writers who are adapting a screenplay into a novel.
For nonfiction writers who are preparing to approach agents and publishers, I also offer specialized Book Proposal Coaching focused on developing and presenting the book for the publishing marketplace.

What's included in the Manuscript Assessment?
For $1,490, you’ll receive a 10–15 page editorial letter assessing your full manuscript (up to 250 pages / 75,000 words) — covering structure, where readers connect or lose interest, what’s missing or underdeveloped, and what to consider before pursuing publication. It also includes in-line editing on your first twenty pages (6,000 words) and a one-hour coaching call to discuss the assessment once you’ve had time to review it.
What's the difference between Assessment and Blueprint?
Assessment is built for a completed manuscript — it’s a diagnostic look at what’s working and what needs attention. Blueprint is for building the structure itself, either before you start writing or after a first draft, working through fourteen guided steps to uncover the essence of your book. Blueprint includes written editorial feedback and three coaching calls over two to three weeks, rather than a single comprehensive letter.
What does the Comfort package involve, and who is it for?
Comfort is a six-month package ($6,600) for writers who want sustained structure and accountability to finish a first draft or work through revision. It includes twelve bi-weekly submissions of twenty pages (6,000 words each, up to 240 pages / 72,000 words total), written editorial feedback and in-line edits on every submission, six one-hour coaching calls spaced across the six months, and continuous email support throughout.
